Can't decide on intake
Can't decide on intake
This has probally been brought up a thousand times, but I really can not decide. I have a 2001 ex auto coupe. I can't decide between injen race division cai or the aem sri. Please help on which one is better.

AEM doesnt make a cai for autos because they claim that they didnt see an improvement over a SRI.
Injen however, has made a CAI for autos.
its really a toss up between the two. the gains on the d17 arent great anyways, so it doesnt really matter.

looks is subjective.
injen and aem are basically the same price. so that doesnt matter either.
it REALLY is a toss-up for u.
make AEM heads and INJEN tails. flip a quarter and find out which one you were "destined" to own.

AEM does make a polished. they make red, blue, silver, polished and the v2 color. if i was you id get an Injen SRI. i have a AEM CAI, but if i was getting an intake again id probably go for Injen because i like the sound better than AEM, if u just want a cool sound though get a wepon R intake.

hmm.. once again i will bring up these points.
CAI:
pro- colder air
con- longer path to get into engine, air may heat up due to engine heating up the pipe
SRI:
pro- shortest path to engine
con- hotter air than CAI
RAM Air: (in theory)
pro- if variables are right, there may be a "supercharging" effect
con- must be up to speed before it really works

get an AEM: Still go slow
get an Injen: Still go slow
Get Weapon R: Still go slow
Get cheap e-bay brand: Still go slow
Get K&N: Still go slow
Seeing a pattern yet? Gains are minimal. So the 3 criteria left are
1. Looks....... thats all up to your preference
2. Sound...... still up to your prefs
3. Filtration..... you could do some research and find out who wins here.

YS let me know the power from that. Do you like it? SRI will give you less power than cai. Along with headers and exhaust, differences will be noticed over stock. Of course, its up to you.

i have not Dynoed it. and probably i wont (i'm broke).
- But you it feels better than stock(This is my first and last SRI/CAI intake) so i can't compare it with other intake except the stock.
- Pipe stays cool after 1 hours driving(which is better than any other SRI that sucks hot air)
- no power loss
- Looks Better on the Engine bay

I like my FIPK II as well. Performance gains were noticeable, but not earth shattering (obviously). It gives a short simple path to the TB with large radius bends, and it's plastic construction insulates far better and transmits less heat to the intake charge, and it also features a semi-sealed heat shield. It's also CARB legal for those who care. Just my $.02.
