HID kits for 2005 Civic EX

hey guys, i'm thinking about getting some 8000k hids for my civic.

i'm deciding between two brands: o-nex and xentec.

do any of you guys have these brands installed on your cars? or any hid kits?

do you think it would look good on a civic? hahaha

and how long do they usually last for?

Also, the price i'm buying them for are $140 installed. is it worth it? how easy it to install and point in the right direction? I don't want to blind other people hahaha

thanks and don't make fun of me

Re: HID kits for 2005 Civic EX

first of all dude imo 8000k is too blue. you wont see much on the road. and you might get in trouble for it. but its your choice. i have 6000k on my and i havent gotten high beamed from anyone. and i love my kit. $140 for an hid is pretty cheap. i dont know how long those will last. but i jsut got mine like 4 months ago and they are completely fine no problems.

Re: HID kits for 2005 Civic EX

I'm currently running 8000k. I agree that it is slightly too much blue but its better than getting the 10,000k. I like the fact thats its blue because I got the yellow 3000k hids on the bottom. Gotten pulled over already with them on but the cop didn't say anything. I think I've been high beamed before but thats probably just from glare... Plus they usually pass within 10 secs so it doesn't bother me.

Re: HID kits for 2005 Civic EX

they are HIGHLY ILLEGAL. but its unlikely youll get cited for em. if you do, its a fix it ticket.
8000k is a LESS lumens that stock therefore is less blinding to other drivers as long as they dont stare into the light. since your putting them in halogen reflectors, they will glare A LOT and visibility will likely decrease. not to mention itll be hard as crap to see in the rain. but 8k is a good choice, because 4300k and 5000k are so bright and so many lumens that in a halogen projector, it will highly blind other drivers. i reccommend putting in 8000k headlights and 4300k fog projectors on for visibility for you, therefore you can see and others wont be blinded.

$140 is a good price, but remember that these take like 15mins to install on your own. xentec is a semibrand name. just get a ncie kit off ebay for under $100, you should be good.

o and about the foglights, look in electric130's sig for details. its very informative. If you find my thread in the Members rides sections about my springtime mods, ill also have a MASSIVE write up going up sometime next week on mounting, buying, and a unique way of switching them sometime next week.

Re: HID kits for 2005 Civic EX

look for some blazer projector fogs on ebay. youll have to custom mount them. next, get a 894 hid kit of your desired temperature. the bulbs will fit right in, and you can mount.

EDIT: cant find the fogs on ebay right now.

Look in that thread for materials, ideas.

Re: HID kits for 2005 Civic EX

well thats quite possible, since you have 6000k lows, which put out more lumens that 800k lights. for SearchLight tho, Id def reccomend them. a pic would be nice too, since it is something that i am considering.

Re: HID kits for 2005 Civic EX

you recommend 8000k or 6000k?

i'm definitely thinking about 8000k because the oh so nice blueish tint!

about the $140 installed, i'm very newbie with cars, like really newbie. also, i don't want the hassle of learning how to do it because i don't want to mess anything up. hahaha plus, they will give me a warranty with their store. it's not bad right?

also, you guys have any recommended places to buy 2005 coupe fog lights? procivic.com has oem ones for about $120, should i go with these?

Re: HID kits for 2005 Civic EX

another question...would hids look good with a 7th gen housing?
i'm wondering if it will look like light is going everywhere! can someone upload a video of how your 7th gen looks like with 6000k or 8000k?

thank you so much!!!!!

& buy the same fogs off ebay for like $80 shipped. but if your gettin 8000k lights, get some HID fogs so that you can actually see down the road.

Dude, I bought a pair of the Chinese replicas, biggest waste of money ever. Within two weeks they stopped working off and on. Eventually they just stopped. Checked wiring, bulbs, fuses, connections. Nothing wrong, just a crappy product.

Re: HID kits for 2005 Civic EX

So is it my understanding that one would not use their High Beams if they purchased a HID Kit? My Low beam is a 9006 (which converts to a HB4 HID bulb). I have Yellow fogs (after market) and they seem OK for the time being.
But I may change them out for clear with HID Kit. I think they use H1 bulb. Is there a HID kit to convert them?

After I'm finished with my '05 Civic Hybrid - I will post pix.
