CRX engine swap questions

Ok let me begin by saying that I name new to this forum as well as new to Honda, I have always liked the cars and done enough research on them to grasp a lot of the concepts of Hondas, but have never owned one. A few weeks ago I had purchased an 86 Honda crx without an engine (only 80,000 miles). It’s the first gen that seems to have very little information/ parts available. I have learned that it is (essentially) the same(ish) car to the 1st gen integras, and the 3rd gen civics. I have a book on Honda swaps and it looks that the D16a1 and the Zc are pretty much a direct bolt in. I planed on going the D16a1 direction do to the fact that there are more. I planned on buying an entire Integra donor because I need some mounts, knuckles , hubs, engine and tranny, and also because my car was carbureted (I know I should have bought an si) I might be able to steal some fuel system and wiring components from it as well. I also had figured I would do the Integra brake upgrade and the drums to discs conversion in the back. Once I have all the parts I want I have a friend who has made a deal that he will buy whatever body I use to use as a dirt track car for like 4 or 5 hundred. I have been looking for an integral (1st gen) that meets my criteria but there are less than I would have originally imagined (also understand I am on a bit of a budget)... I found one for $600 with only 115000 miles on it that I should have purchased but at the time didn’t understand how good of a deal it was. Two sets of rims two I actually was working out a deal with the guy and he said he would hold it for me. Well I don’t have it now so you can see how trust worthy he was. ANYWAYS! I lost that one. But before to long a crx like mine (but in worse shape) popped up online with a b18 swap! Only 100,000miles! hasport mounts and axles and all that crap. That guy wanted 1700 seemed more than I expected to pay but I finally convinced myself to pull the trigger. I called the guy and he said a guy was coming to look today and he would give a call back if he still had it, I never got a call back. So I am still on the hunt for a donor so I am basically looking for any b18 swapped 3rd gen civic or any 1st gen 5 speed Integra with lowish miles

So here are my questions so far
1. Does anyone have a vehicle like I am after for sale?
2. My car has a mount on the driver’s side and a “wiggly” mount in the center it looks like maybe some sort of tranny mount, and that’s all. I guess that just doesn’t seem like enough to hold up an engine so I’m wondering if my car is missing one, however it seems unlikely to me because the driver’s side mount is welded in so I guess I would expect if there were more they would also be welded in. so basically I am just confused. Let me know if this doesn’t make sense.
3. There are two lines there red and braded coming out of my fire wall. I’m assuming fuel lines but am not positive. Can anyone shine some light for me? I don’t see any other lines that could be fuel. And I also see similar looking lines going into the charcoal canister. But it just seems odd that they would go through the body were I guess I was under the impression most car’s fuel lines ran underneath
4. Because my car was carbed and is now going to be fuel injected I’m concerned about the pump situation, do our cars have in take pumps or external pumps and would I just be able to steal the Integra’s pump if I end up going d16a1? Or will I need an SI tank/pump? I’m assuming I could “make it work” however I want but, maybe not.
5. I am building this car mainly for the learning experience and because I thought it was possible that if I was carful I might be able to make a few bucks off the entire deal when I go to sell it. I know things have a tendency to add up. And I might end up with more money in it than originally anticipated. But can anyone maybe shine some light on what they think something like this might be worth when I’m done? Ill give a brief description of what the cars condition is like. 80k miles interior is almost perfect with a small dent in the dash on driver’s side and a small dent in the head liner near the rear hatch. Exterior has almost no rust maybe a quarter size bubbleing in the common Honda rear fender by bumper. On both sides. All rust still has paint over it so it’s in its very early stages. It’s on new KYB and suspension feels as it should when you push down on all four quarters no weird noises. That’s the best test I can do without being able to drive it. Everything on the car works all lights, fan, radio all that crap. Its red and one of the two tone paint jobs on the stealies.
I know it’s hard to know but with a stock b18 or d16a1 what you guys think?

6. the same guy who is going to buy the shell and races Hondas on dirt says that the wiring is not hard and says hell do it for me but that is just the hardest part of most swaps so I’m wondering if I need the Integra harness or maybe the SI harness? I don’t know. I think he’s planning on just making one. It doesn’t actually matter because he’s just doing it for me but I’m just interested more than anything

If anyone knows the answers to any of these questions I would greatly appreciate the assistance of you guys who have more expertise in Hondas so let me know !
Guess I’ll continue to ask questions as I go I guess but these are the things I have ran into so far.

Re: CRX engine swap questions

That is easily the longest first post I have ever seen someone make.

1. No one has a vehicle like the one your describing for sale on this forum at the moment, generally, your best bet when looking to find a donor car is craigslist or other local sources. Most of the cars that get sold off forums are already heavily modified and dif.ficult to sell locally.

2.The first gen crx had three engine mounts, you're missing one.

3. It sounds like they're fuel lines. Normally you'd run the lines underneath the car, but it sounds like the car was swapped in the past, and in that case there's no telling how the previous owner chose to run lines and such.

4. I think you can use the integra pump, not sure..
Your in for a mountain of work converting to fuel injected.

5. For every dollar you put into the car, you might get twenty five cents out. This is a very expensive hobby, and when you sell a complete car you usually only get a fraction of your money back. Without a lot of mods, I wouldn't expect to get more than $2k out of it with the engine in unless you do a really nice swap.

Re: CRX engine swap questions

Thank you for your quick response, and yeah I know it’s long, thank you for taking the time to read it. I was just trying to touch on everything.

mk it makes since that there would be three mounts I guess I would have just expected to so both welded on but i guess not.

um the only think I’m confused about now is that the engine that was in there before was the stock ew1 I could have got it . But I chose to leave it because the guy wanted like 3000 for the car and the engine and just 700 for the car without so I figured I’d just swap. But the point is I guess I would be surprised if those lines aren’t in their stock location

Yeah I know it’s an expensive hobby for sure my friend and I just got done with a 70’s jeep he bought for 800. Before we knew it we spend like 6000. It’s a nice truck but idk to expensive for my taste. I plan on being more careful with this project. Mk thanks ! anyone else ?!
