questions on locked up prelude swap hellpp!?
so my friend says he has a nineties accord that has a H22 vtec prelude swap in it and he wants to sell it to me and he says the guy he bought it cheap off of said the reason he sold it is because he was sitting at a light one day and put it in first and the motor locked up on him? soo idk how that could happen but could you guys possibly tell me what could have possibly gone wrong so that maybe i wont have to take it to the shop and get it dissected to find out whats wrong.? im just gonna end up gutting it and taking the engine and tranny and swapping it into into a really clean 97 civic i have that pretty much has all its show done just not all its go lol

Learn some grammar, it'll take you far in life.
If the only reason why your considering buying the car is to get the swap, move on. Anything that could cause an engine to completely lock up is major, and would likely require a complete engine rebuild if its even possible to salvage the engine, which means the value of that engine is basically scrap metal. The typical cause of an engine being locked is coolant or water somehow making its way into the combustion chamber, water been sucked through a CAI is a possible cause.

I understand what you mean dude, the quality of my writing on forums is far lower than it is in school, but its difficult to read or understand a giant run on sentence.
I'd be surprised if any shop is willing to give you an in depth diagnosis for free. Whats your buddy thinking about selling you the car for?

sounds to me like a bad swap job. those things are cheap to do anyways. the whole motor and trans you can get under $2k with low miles. then just pay labor to swap it maybe $1-2k or find a friend that will help you for some beer.
Re: questions on locked up prelude swap hellpp!?
sorry about my grammer guys but it locked up on the previous owner when he put it in first when he was sitting at a light once. the H22 has been swapped into a nineties accord.
Re: questions on locked up prelude swap hellpp!?
well all i really wanna know is what could have possibly gone wrong and what some of the predicted costs are..

Cold Air Intake, its an after market intake that reaches down to the bottom of the car to pick up cool air. If you drive through a puddle, it could potentially suck up water and hydrolock the engine. Will the engine crank at all?

ohhhhhh hahahaha i thought you typed cia not cai lol i know what cai means. i dont know if it will im supposed to meet up with him next week to check out the car and drop it off at the shop.

Re: questions on locked up prelude swap hellpp!?
well, do you have a place to keep the car? maybe it's easier to DIY if you know what you doing instead of taking to a shop.
for 300, i would take the bait and just tear it apart to see what's going on inside.
Will be really hard to diagnose anything with just that info.
but you will need to look what you would need to swap it in the civic as well. not sure if the mounts and harness of the accord will work on your 6th gen.
