Any Ideas?

94 civic dx.
no power steering, no abs.
When i hit cracks or bumps in the road my steering wheel will follow the curves in the road.
Also when i hit bumps, there is a pretty loud rattling sound coming from front left wheel.
When i go in reverse there is sometimes a clicking sound.
Could a bad cv joint be causing all of this?
I never drove a non power steering car before this so im not sure if this is normal.
I already replaced upper control arm, struts, spindles, inner and outer tie rods, rack and pinion.
The problem hasn't gotten any better since.
Any suggestions would be helpful.

I see some related threads, will check those.
Any suggestions would be appreciated though.

Re: Any Ideas?

I would have said the control arm, but looks like you took care of that, either that, or you have completely distroyed bushings

Not really sure what else could make rattling sound

Re: Any Ideas?

Did you change the top mount on the strut or did you re-use it? Mine made a rattling sound when I re-used it. Ended up having to buy a whole new strut. Other than that it could the lower control arm or the CV (not as likely).

And yes, without PS it will pull to the contours of the road more. You now provide the resistance to that instead of the PS.

Re: Any Ideas?

The noise sounds like it could be a bad cv joint.

Did you get an alignment done AFTER all of that suspension/steering work you did? Any work or changes made to your suspension after an alignment will require a re-alignment. If your toe settings are off and/or you have a lot of negative camber, this could cause the car to pull when going over bumps.
