Exclamation Key in 2nd pos. nothing turns on..

So I went to turn my car on the other day and it just started for a few seconds and died.. kept trying to start it and noticed none of the dash lights were turning on and the fuel pump not priming but i can wiggle it in 2nd pos and get it working... Anyway im assuming that its the ignition switch and was wondering if theres a way to bypass the 2nd pos with a switch?? 94 civic si coupe

Sounds like you just need to buy an ignition switch.

Right I was figuring it was that. question is how difficult is it to replace the switch? Do I replace the whole wiring for it or just the tumbler? and my question basically was what wires do i use to put a switch on?

I looked in the catalog, Honda sells the column lock assembly WITH the ignition switch as a unit, complete with a couple new keys.

DangerZone appears to sell the same type of deal.

You can look those up for yourself.

Seems that you can't buy JUST the electrical switch portion by itself, like you can for newer cars.

But if you are really itching to try, take yours apart and see if the electrical switch section will match up with something from a newer car. Just a thought. Probably best to just do it the right way.

and my question basically was what wires do i use to put a switch on?
Someone with a bit of electrical (common sense) knowledge and a wiring diagram can do it.

Gotta know what you are doing though, gotta be safe about it. Don't want to be responsible for burning the car to the freekin' ground because of a hacked wiring job with underrated switches.

Looks like you can get just the wires. so is it the harness itself i need or do i need the tumbler too?

Link? Pics?

I couldn't find it that way (elec. switch and wire by itself) when I looked the other day. At least not for a 94.

If you can get the switch -- by itself -- without the column lock assembly and it is actually right for the car, then go for it.

NOTE: I'm in the US, we did not get a 2 door Si. We had a 3 door hatch Si. Canada might be way different.

Hell yeah, that would probably be a lot simpler to replace than the whole column lock.
I'd go for it.
