Post 89 Civic Wagon died [cause found]

89 Civic Wagon 1.5 automatic, dropped a friend off a few days ago and while backing uphill out of his driveway the car jumped really hard and died. It jerked so hard I thought I bottomed out. After that car wouldn't start, waited for 30 minutes and it started back but idled rough and would stall out if put into reverse or drive. Engine light was on so I pulled the ECU fuse to reset it, let it sit for another 30 minutes it started and idled normally. Engine light was still on and giving a code 15, tried pulling out again and same thing, this time no start no matter what. Decided to replace ICM, that cleared my engine light and the car started and ran like normal, but when I tried to back out same thing. Big jerk from the engine and car stopped dead, now I have no power to ignition. Turn the key over and the radio comes on, and the headlights work, but no dash lights, main relay doesn't click and turning the key all the way does nothing. I am at a loss as to what is causing this, any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

Blown fuse and a short somewhere. You going to have to trace wires

re: 89 Civic Wagon died [cause found]

The car came home under it's own power today, turns out when it was jumping the ignition switch came unplugged under the dash. Plugged it back in and it ran fine, on subsequent tries to leave my friends house it jumped again and again only this time it wouldn't stall out and die. It continued to run, just sounded and felt really bad. But I discovered that this only occurs when the steering wheel is at full lock left or right. If the car is in park and I turn the wheel all the way the rpm's drop considerably but it doesn't jump, but I replicated the jumping by holding enough throttle to keep my position on the hill steady and turning to full lock. Turn the wheel back straight or pull it into neutral and goes back to normal. Still have a major issue of some kind but the car is running fine unless put into the scenario stated earlier. Any ideas as to what I should check would be appreciated. Thank you.

Pump might be putting too much load on the engine causing it to die. Try running without the belt. Or maybe something wrong with the wiring in the steering column
