Del Sol will not crank in humid/rainy weather..what gives?

Long time civic owner and enthusiast, first post here.

I have a 1995 Del Sol Si. When it had the D16 in it, on rainy or high humidity days the engine would crank, but would not fire and run. As soon as the humidity dropped it would crank right up.

It used to be an inconvenience, since it's a toy, and I could wait. I was too busy to diagnose, and hope the new CRVtech swap would cure that however.... it has not. Today I needed to move it to my shop from storage (from a recent move) and it was/is humid and has been raining for 2 days and nothing. A shot of starting fluid in the intake will make it fire, but it will not remain running, and it seems like a fuel starvation/fuel not working problem?

Has anyone seen this before or have any insight to offer on what/why it seems the high humidity or recent rain affects fuel supply? Relay? I've yet to dive in, because I need to get the car to my shop, and any insight beyond "wait until it's less humid" is appreciated!

Could be. I didn't pull it since its brand new on the new engine swap. I'm thinking that, ECU or main relay? The clock was ticking on me to make to make a 60 mile drive back up into the mountains with darkness and a snow storm approaching. I was ill prepared but I'll have to be on my next try to crank and get her to her new home.

Finally got off my lazy **s and searched threads (I blame moving throwing me off my game) but I see my issue is not unique. I'll check my dizzy, main relay, coolant temp sensor and for shorts next attempt! New/different distributor from the old d16 so main relay is my suspicion.

Re: Del Sol will not crank in humid/rainy weather..what gives?

Thanks. Looks like some competent people here, posted some great info on the exact same issue. I love one quote of "if a rain cloud appears a mile away it will kill the car".....I can definitely identify, and the del sol, basically sitting for weeks, unopened or uncranked definitely collected moisture...The rear trunk lid interior top was literally dripping with condensation.

I went ahead and ordered a new main relay as part of a shotgun approach, and first step, and will check the dizzy cap for condensation on the inside on my next trip too. ECU and temp coolant sensor are among the other suspects, and one thread even mentioned it can be the ignition switch itself when can wear and cause similar issues.

I'll post back, when I figure it out!
