'85 Civic Won't Start! Elevation?

Hi! My girlfriend and I drove her well kept 85 civic from Oregon to Denver. It had idling problem's prior and one of the cylinder's misfires apparently. However, it made the trip without trouble. After a couple months at a higher elevation it stopped turning over. It sounds as if it is going to but won't. Would cleaning the spark plugs be a good place to start?

Thank you for any guidance!

Xavier

~6000 feet isn't THAT high. The engine was running ok (for having a misfiring cylinder) and then one day it stopped?
Does it keep cranking, or what?
What's the cause of the misfire?
What do your spark plugs look like?
How's the fuel filter?
How are the fluids looking?
How old is that timing belt?

How do you know it was misfiring? Flashing CEL?

I would pull the plugs and see what they look like. Oil soaked, fuel soaked, detonation?

Well, I just got the battery trickle charged and then we tried to start it. It was cranking before and now it is just clicking. The car has sat for the last several months because we haven't had the money to put into it. I don't have the proper sockets to pull the plugs.

Her Dad said that the one cylinder has been misfiring for a while now.

Get the battery tested. It might not have enough to start the car. Even though you charged it, it could have not accepted the charge.
