94 civic oil pressure
94 civic oil pressure
Last month I replaced my engine on my 94 civic d15b7, when starting the engine the oil pressure was low. I replaced the oil pump, but didn't prime it. When starting the engine the light would flash until the engine was warm, but the other day the outside temperature was in the negatives the engine would not buil pressure even warmed up. After the pump was replaced I did notice a squeak noise that I believe to be the oil pump. My ex coworker claims the engine is bad and that he suspects since the pump is good since new, but even new stuff goes bad sometimes, and since it wasnt primed I'm wondering it that wore it out. Anyways hoping for opinions, thoughts. Thanks

Re: 94 civic oil pressure
You had the oil pan off, but didn't check any of the bearings while the opportunity was there?
My vote: You didn't need a pump at all. You needed an engine.
EDIT: Still need an engine.
Did I read that wrong? Your replacement engine has low oil pressure?
Did you verify what the light was telling you by connecting a manual oil pressure gauge?
You bought a junk used engine?
