92 Civic 4Door No Start
92 Civic 4Door No Start
Having trouble with my civic. I ran out of gas th other day I put more gas and nothing. So I decided to replace the fuel pump and still nada. I move onto changing out the main relay an the fuel pump still not making a sound. Stumped!!..
Re: 92 Civic 4Door No Start
Well I'd start by making sure it's fuel related. Squirt some throttlebody cleaner into a vacuum line and see if the car then starts and runs for a bit. If so, then you may have not located the fueling supply issue yet. If it still won't start, then look to make sure the tach moves while cranking it over. Also if the tach is moving, make sure the spark is reaching the each of the plugs with a spark tester. Get back to us what you find out...
Re: 92 Civic 4Door No Start
I only assumed it was fuel related because this all began when I ran out of gas. As to your suggestions I have sprayed starting fluid into the throttle body and still nothing. Also spark is there and the tach is definitely moving. When I turn the key it tries to start just sounds like its not getting gas for some reason. Appreciating your suggestions really need to get my car going.
Re: 92 Civic 4Door No Start
Well, then if it's not starting with adding t-body cleaner then you need to verify you have a STRONG spark using a tester. This is important, the coil may be firing, but it may be too weak to ignite the fuel mixture. I'd also pull each of the spark plugs and see what they look like to see if they look black and sooty which would indicate a weak spark. Using a DVOM the specs on the coil @ 77 degrees temperature are: Voltage source: 12 V; Primary circuit: 0.6-0.8 ohms (VERY VERY low resistance); secondary circuit is: 12.9K-19.3K ohms.
If you're sure the ignition is up to par, check for any stored codes in the ECM by using a jumper wire at the 2 pin service check connector.
Beyond that, I'm not really sure where to have you look next other than to verify the timing belt is ok and in perfect time and that each of the cylinder's have at least 135 psi compression with no variance greater than 28 psi between each cylinder. If the timing belt did jump time and with Honda's being interference engines, well then you know that'll be nothing but bad news...

Re: 92 Civic 4Door No Start
had the same problem with my 1998 si d16y8 turned out that my timming had skipped 180 degrees so i had spark and fuel and everything checked out i would just check the timming and see if that was the issue first i wnet through all the trouble shooting steps checked my compression spark and fuel pressure everything that the car needed to start was there, timing was reversed tho, try that out and go from there.
