95 Head Gasket Replacement
95 Head Gasket Replacement
So I've been a Civic owner for 2 days, and just figured out I have a blown head gasket. I'm going to buy the parts online and see if I can pay someone to fix it.
What I was wondering was, do I just get the head gasket, or do I get a head gasket set with all the seals and stuff? I did a little bit of research and I want to get one of the MLS ones. I can get a Fel Pro head gasket which is MLS for $38, but the kit with all the seals costs $100.
Or there's this brandless set which is only $82, and it is also MLS, but I don't know how big of a deal brands are..
Also, is there any way to tell if my engine is D15B8 or D15B7? I have a 95 Civic DX and it's automatic.. ANY help is REALLY appreciated.

Re: 95 Head Gasket Replacement
the engine code is stamped just below water inlet pipe on left side. When you put the head back on you are supposed to buy new head bolts from honda. they cost about 100 bucks. I used my old ones and had no ill effects. Supposedly , they stretch after use.
