Either you are trying to shove it into the gear before the shafts inside the trans have a chance to stop spinning, or the clutch isn't completely disengaging. Give it a second or two after you push the pedal down, see if that helps.
Make sure the clutch disengages completely.
Pull the floormats out from under the pedal so it goes all the way to the floor. Scoot the seat up a notch or two if you have to.
Is the fluid full? Has it gone low or empty? (DOT-3 Brake Fluid) Slave cylinder leaking, rubber boot full of fluid?
Has the clutch pedal free play and engagement height dropped?
If the pedal hydraulic system is all proper, then it just about has to be in the clutch itself.
Make sure the clutch disengages completely.
