88 Hatch No Blower... Frustration!!!

Recently grabbed an 88 Hatch commuter and unfortunately I've got no interior blower!! I've searched and tried the following...
  • Replaced blower resistor
  • Ruled out blower fan (12V up to blower, and it works)
  • Tested the under dash fuse (good)
Not sure where to go from here. I've read a few different things, about a relay under the hood but those were newer cars. Is there one for this year hatch that I'm missing? Anyone have any ideas where to go from here? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

there has to be a relay somewhere in the under hood fuse box. those blowers were much less efficient back then and used more power. there is no way to safely run a blower motor without a relay.

Right on gear, how are you? long time no talk, I've been non existent lol!!

I was thinking there had to be a relay too, this fuse box is tiny in comparison to what I'm used to from my 02, not sure where it could be? Possibly it runs off the main relay? Dunno really lol. Definitely getting frustrating though, not wanting to drive to work in the dead cold haha.

I found a relay to purchase on AutoZone site, says its located under the hood. Can anyone confirm the location of the relay? Is it one of the set of 3 behind the passenger headlight??

Re: 88 Hatch No Blower... Frustration!!!

Got a chance to work on it today, Found out I have 12V at the fuse box and at the blue/white wire for the blower. Took out my switch to test but first traced continuity through the switch plug, 3 wires traced to resistor, resistor traced to common motor plug side etc... Low and behold I tested the switch, I only have continuity at 1 and 6 on the plug at all positions, tried taking the plug apart and cleaning the contacts to no avail. So looks like I'll be picking up a switch and going from there, hopefully this solves my problem once and for all!

yay you have heat lol. i was about to say if you cant get it working, make a new relay harness with your own switch directly to the blower motor and turn it on and off when you need it. ofcourse it would always be on max power tho. glad you got it working.
