Urgent 1994 civic problem - wont start
Howdy guys, got a major problem on my hands!
Was replacing the radio in my civic for a aftermarket exhaust, disconnected the negative terminal of the battery so i didn't zap myself to oblivion on accident (can never be too careful!). However discovered i didn't have all the parts necessary to replace the radio. So i reattached the lower dash, and left the car how it usually is. Went out popped bonnet, reconnected the negative terminal, went to go check the car starts, and when i opened the drivers door it was making loud beeping sound from the steering column area (it has never ever done this), there is a constant quiet ticking sound coming from under the glove compartment and when i go to start the car, the battery light and oil light is on,but the
light isnt on. And when i try to start, it makes a single tick sound and does nothing.
In a fury i called my old teacher from mechanics school and he said it might be the starter motor and that i should try jump start it with another vehicle (however i wont have another vehicle for atleast another 5hrs and im damn impatient). And i've left my cousin a txt who's a mechanic but i've had no response yet.
I've disconnecting and reconnecting negative terminal, and it looks pretty clean, no rust or build up of grime on the terminal.
Has anybody had this problem? And if so how'd they fix it??
PROBLEM FIXED: Starter motor needed replacing apparently (fantastic $300 bill)
