No acceleration power. Help!

Hello,

I have a stock 1994 civic si with 203,000 miles (manual transmission). Last week, when driving home from work I noticed problems with my acceleration. Whenever I stepped on the gas there was no power and it would take a while before the car would pick up speed.

I guess you could compare it to the feeling of driving up a steep hill on the highest gear.

Idle is also a little off. When I come to a stop the idle drops as if the engine is going to die but then picks back up again to normal.

I just recently changed the O2 sensor because the check engine light was on with a code 41. The light is now off.

I would really appreciate any help or advice on what might be wrong with the car.

Thanks in advance.

Check for codes.

If no codes, check if exhaust flow is normal. Feel the exhaust coming out of the tailpipe with your hand. Don't burn your hand, just check for good flow.

Re: No acceleration power. Help!

So I brought the car to my local muffler shop to have the catalytic converter checked. According to the technician he said that exhaust is working fine. According to him one of cylinders might be misfiring.

The CEL is not on. Would it still make sense to check for codes? Thanks for the help I am new to all of this.

If it was mis-firing it would set a code whether the light came on or not. Go ahead and check for codes. If no codes, check for spark and fuel pressure.
