first honda and need help
Need to kno what kind of options i have with a stock 1.6L SOHC V Tech. Is the engine worth putting money into it or should i just invest in another motor. Whats the best route. Any suggestions will b looked into and considered. Thanks.
Re: first honda and need help
Hi, let me be the first to welcome you to the honda community!! First i'll give you a heads up its VTEC not V tech, its not a phone manufacturer its a Honda. Second a little more information on which specific D-series sohc would be helpful in determing whats best, but ultimately its up to you. listed below are the sohc VTEC engines that come with you model year.
D15Z1-1.5L 16V SOHC VTEC-E, 92hp @ 5500 RPM
D16Z6-1.6L 16V SOHC VTEC, 125hp @ 6600 RPM
There are more non VTEC engines that come with you model year as well but If it is VTEC I see no reason to list them.
Lastly since your civic is in OBD1 it has the best platform for modication since there is less O2 senors to trip. Also the best part, is that your car engine bay chassis is identical to the Integra 94-01 model so it is a simple bolt on procedure to get a B-series powerplant in there without needing to find a compatable A/C or powersteering brackets and since your car is already VTEC you do not have to solder in a VTEC solenoid or knock sense to the engine harness.
I hope this helps you with determing in what you want to do, and best of luck.

Re: first honda and need help
dont mess with the sohc start lookin for a b18c1 which is also known as b18 gsr which is vtec or a b16 sir2 which is also vtec but either way you go u will have to get motor mounts computer wiring harness tranny and and cv axles but i believe that will be the best way to go
