94 civic alternator brush replacement

Can I do this on the vehicle?

Will it most likely solve alt lite staying on at idle?

How do I get the bottom bolt out of a rusty alt bracket? Yikes.

-Yes. Check link for OEM parts. Don't have a heart attack when you see the prices. http://www.bkhondaparts.com/billkay/jsp/home.jsp With those prices, the best thing to do is take the alternator off and have the alternator guy in your town rebuild it. It's usually a lot cheaper.

-Don't know. What are the symptoms? Alternator light is something in the charging system and usually indicates a bad alternator. Go down to Autozone and have them test it before you rebuild or replace. While your there ask them how much for a replacement.

-1. Hit it with some good penetrating oil. WD-40 is ok but, this stuff is by far the best I've found (comparable on price too): http://www.3sx.com/store/comersus_vi...?idProduct=612

2. Wait a little while then try to turn it. If it doesn't turn, hit it with a hammer a couple of times then try to turn it.

3. If it still doesn't turn, repeat steps 1 and 2.

4. If it still doesn't turn after that, cut it off and replace.

Re: 94 civic alternator brush replacement

Wow, I asked those questions quicklyl

1st question again. Can I replace the alternator brushes while the alternator is still on the vehicle. Is there step by step instructions for this somewhere?

2nd question. Thankyou for the answer.

3rd question. Thankyou for the answer.

No, you have to remove the alternator to replace brushes. Don't know about a DIY, check hondatech.com
