Honda Help
Just pulled the head on my 1991 honda civic lx! Dont know much about engines so what should the cylinder block look like on the inside!? should it contain coolant just around the cusbustion cambers! Guy said he could rebuild the head for $120 what does this consist of and will it stop my honda from blowing grayish smoke!? the valvles are very nasty and corroded looking.

Re: Honda Help
any pics? there should be coolant around the engine in those passages, and some may have spilt into the cylinders when the head was removed. if the valves cant be cleaned, it may be worth just replacing em. make sure to check the head for warpage and possibly have it milled flat.

Re: Honda Help
i really cannot say without looking, but that old of an engine, if you are rebuilding it anyway and have smoking problems (or burning oil), its a good idea to replace the piston rings and valve seals.
