install rear view mirror with auto-dimming, LCD display and back up camera
Installed a rear view mirror to replace my factory one. I had to remove the bar/bracket that holds the original mirror. I installed the glass stub onto my windshield so I could mount a conventional gentex style mirror. It has a sensor for light both in front, and behinf the mirror. When someone gets close behind me with headlights shining on the mirror it automatically dims. When I put the car in reverse the LCD screen lights up and I can see the backup camera image. I had to fabricate a bracket from some aluminum to hold the camera. I think it came out looking like a factory setup. Bracket made and painted
Camera, harness I made with a grommet and a hold down to keep everything tight Parts built up Camera assembly installed into deck trim piece Installed in the car Wiring looks 100% stock End result
Re: install rear view mirror with auto-dimming, LCD display and back up camera
One thing I left out (because I had not finished it) was the hole in the headliner left by the original rear view mirror.
The factory mirror holding "bracket" sticks out and is covered by a small piece of trim. It would look pretty poor if I left that open. I used the hole when I routed my wires. I had to modify the bracket so it would hold the trim, and allow the wires to pass through. This way the little plastic trim will snap on like stock and it will just look like a cosmetic cover. Kinda like factory and as clean as it could get. (shown with trim not snapped on)
