Side mirror problem
Side mirror problem
It's 2am here and I had a long day, and bam... I hit my side mirror when I got home at the garage... The side mirror is loose, I seriously hope I didn't break it >< Some professional diagnostic will be appreciated
I'm extremely ashamed at the moment...

Re: Side mirror problem
Really? I collided with another mirror going like 30 and both our mirrors stayed on. Lol. You might be able to mess with it a little. I don't have a 7th gen, but in my 6th gen, there's a little triangle that pops out. Behind it are 3 little 10mm bolts. Pop those off, remove the connector, and the mirror comes out. You may be able to do that, minus removing the mirror, and try to pop it back in if you didn't destroy any of the threads.
Re: Side mirror problem
Yeah I was pretty surprised too... I removed the triangle last but haven't removed the bolts yet. I stuck my finger inside the opening and didn't feel any "rough edges" so im guessing nothing is broken?
Anyway i'll remove the mirror when I get get home... I'm pretty nervous. I guess I hit the mirror pretty good, but I wasn't even going. I ran up my drive way before the garage opened fully, so I waited while my steering wheel was not straight... when I released the break BAM... it happened

Re: Side mirror problem
Just an update for you boys and girls, the plastic actually cracked inside =(
My current solution:
Glue the joints back with super glue and then silicone the living bajeebers out of the surroundings to strengthen the joints... Maybe apply another piece of plastic beside the joint too?
Better solutions and suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Re: Side mirror problem
Find one on here for $35-65 and gut it for the parts you need: http://www.car-part.com/
Re: Side mirror problem
So I carried out the original plan, I took some pictures, will show you guys when I can. Once it dries up tomorrow, i'll update you guys on how good it holds =/ I would hate to spend money on it~
This site seems pretty neat! I got confused what to pick at the "part" category, is this correct?

I was thinking of the exact same thing, except i found these on ebay... But i'm not sure if they'll fit once gutted....

Re: Side mirror problem
This exact thing happened to me (i bought the car like it, i didn't do it). The very front piece which holds the bolt in place cracked. I just super glued it in place and it is still fine a week later.

. I went up to the junkyard and the guy sold it to me for 40 bucks! Looked brand new. Better than paying damn near 300 bucks for a new one
. Re: Side mirror problem
Meanwhile, a day later I think of this place: http://www.certifit.com/ It's $26+ tax for an unpainted new OEM fit aftermarket mirror. This is the place that the body shops don't tell ya about.
Re: Side mirror problem
$30 is better than $120 for new guts: http://dallas.craigslist.org/ndf/pts/2413301364.html
