I have a 2000 honda civic lx auto trans
The block is shot and I'm wondering what motor to put in it.My budget is not that much and I want to keep it automatic just for a daily driver to work the motor is a d16y7. I'm kinda looking for plug n play but thinking maybe vtec.
Re: I have a 2000 honda civic lx auto trans
the cheapest thing to do is get a junk yard engine if yours cant be rebuilt next would be an eBay engine but you need to a 99-2000 if you are using more the the short block i dont think theirs a difference on the blocks for the 96-00 but i know for a fact that 96-98 and 99-00 are different electronically. as for a vetc swap if you dont find a whole d16y8 to put in (you will need the ecu out of the car you get parts from) you can make a mini me build like i did with some basic wiring knowledge. if you do that use your manifold or use a auto d16y8 manifold the auto ecu will not read a 2 wire iacv it needs the 3 wire which most likely your car has. heres a link with a rundown of how to do a mini me build read it to see if its something your willing to try after of coarse you find a new engine
