d16y7 to d16y8?

Ive got a 96 HB civic with a d16y7(SOHC non-vtec) in it with a thrown piston rod.

Looking to throw in a D16y8 into it. Im just curious (besides wiring vtec) can i pull the y7 and drop in a y8 and everything fit (radiator, tranny, exhaust manifold etc etc)
Trying to make this swap as painless as possible.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

It will bolt in no problem, but you will have to get a y8 ECU as well for the VTEC. If you don't want to get a new ecu, then you'll have to get an aftermarket vtec controller and wire it in, which will end up costing you more and require more work.

Re: d16y7 to d16y8?

Hey guys, i recently did a motor swap in my '99 honda civic dx, from a y7 non-vtec to a '99 y8 vtec. The good thing is that my car starts , but the bad is, im having an idle issue. While the Tps is plug up my car idles up & down all the time, but when
Ever its unpluged my car idles fine maybe a little lean ,but im replacing my stock P2E with a P2P ecu tomorow. Would that help ? And by the way i can't accelarate over 60mph
Using my stock wiring harness.
