1.5L swap

I am new here and not sure where to post this, but I am about to buy a 96 civic dx and the 1.6 has been swapped for a 1.5. now I dont really care about the swap, but the guy that ownes it says for the check engine light to go off and to pass smog you need an adapter plug to go from obd1 to obd2 and that it is fairly cheap. any help would great.

Re: 1.5L swap

Welcome.

Sounds like a smog regulations nightmare, I wouldn't waste my time.

Re: 1.5L swap

the little dongler to swap out the obd, is like 50-60 bucks. swapped engines by someone u dont know can be a nightmare. a lot of the time the electrical is done pretty crappy. i made that mistake bought a 00 lx with a swapped ingine, in the past two years, its been ok. i blew up the first engine, because the head was put on with out any gaskets, just crammed with this high temp silicon stuff... leaked oil like a seive, replaced that with a del sol engine from 95, just a little too different. my motor mounts are hel in place with lug nuts, i have random wires everywhere. my steering column cought on fire a few days ago.... for no reason.... and that's only the begining.......
