Need some help with TURBO AND BODY

I need to find a turbo that is durable and is on the high end of the spectrum for around 1500.

I just bought a 2000 honda civic si and it has everything in it. It is a show car so it has lambo doors, a spider kit, 2 12's, and monitors but the engine is stock with an aftermarket exhaust. All my friends are itching me to get a turbo but i need to know TURBO OR SUPERCHARGER?

For the body kit, I just bought chromed out diamond mesh for the front of it. Should i cancel my order and get black? or keep it? (The car has custom chromed out rims).

PLEASE help me out!

Re: Need some help with TURBO AND BODY

Let me put try to put this in a way, where I don't come across as an *** hole...

With chrome, lambo doors, a body kit and 2 12 inch subs the focus of the car isn't performance, it's meant to fit into a very specific class of show cars, which most people hate. Since you didn't mention any performance mods like light weight wheels, quality tires, suspension and brake upgrades, I'll assume the car has none and would likely be incapable of putting down a significant amount of usable power on the street or track. There's not much point spending $5000 on turboing the engine, if the car can't put usable power on the ground. If you want to spend the money, it's your decision to make of course.

Turbo or supercharger: superchargers make less power than a turbo but have a more even power band, on a turbo engine you don't feel much of the power until it's spooling at high rpms.

Can you post a picture of your SI please? How much did you pay for it? Whoever made all the modifications to this car went in the complete opposite direction and like Mindbomber said, the most hated direction.

I paid 8,000 for it and I could get that money back I want to keep it. is there any way I can transform it into a performance car? like take the subs out? or should I just sell it?

IMO, it would be counterproductive to what has already been done to your car. How many miles are on your Si and is the title clean? If you want to go performance, it would almost be better to sell it and try with a different Si. Just my opinion.

Well..

Remove the lambo doors, possibly the body kit, trade the chrome wheels for light weight performance wheels, and in time considering downsizing to a single, but extremely good quality 10'' or 12'' sub to save weight.

Make your first purchase a decent set of coilovers for the car if it doesn't already have them.

Re: Need some help with TURBO AND BODY

Ouch. $8k for a riced out Si? Does it have low mileage at least? No offense man but you got majorly ripped off. Part out the body kit, the lambo doors and subs.. trade the wheels. After all that you might actually have something going for you.

Oh and stripping all of those parts will make it 300% less likely to be stolen. Oh and for wheels, get something CLEAN like rota slips, advan RGII's, buddy clubs, anything that weigh under ~14lb's a wheel.

Like Mindbomber said.. first investment should be a good set of coilovers.. like Tein Flex's.

Re: Need some help with TURBO AND BODY

greddy is usually a solid brand for turbos. but be careful, the boost might make your rear bumper scrape.

Re: Need some help with TURBO AND BODY

just piece together a kit.

fix your car first though, it's worthless turboing it in the current state.
