Now I am not a newb with automotives at least american made but jap cars are a bit different for me, but i am having some problem with the wifes 99 civic cx. every other gear works fine except third I can't even sort of find third. It runs fine without it but it is annoying me I cant pin point why it is doing it and would like to remedy this. It has been doing that since we got it from a friend for some yard work in trade. it has been stripped down for race no power steering no a/c stuff like that.

Worn synchronizer, or worn out could prevent you from getting into 3rd. That and 2nd gear are the most abused gears. When you push up on the shifter, does it just completely block you out?
