What fits?? y7 to y8 head

I have a stock d16y7 and use it for a daily driver I dont have anything else to drive for now. I want to do some bolting on of different parts that might help the performance of the engine a little. Like in the future a y8 head. But for now tell i find one and get evrything to do the job. I wondered if i bought a header would it fit the y7 and y8 head both cause i only want to spend my money once! One bad thing is it's an auto....

So I guess my question is, do the bolt patterns for the HEADER (Non turbo) INTAKE manifold the same for a y7 and a y8 head? I dont want to have to buy it twice....

And do you have to change the ECU or wiring harness when u change heads? Seems like its an easy job to do but im sure theres some catches!!!!?????? THANKS

Below is my 1998 Honda Civic DX ive owned it for about six months and it is my first Honda ever. It's not fast but very stylish! I think I'm understanding alot about them just by reading what others have posted on this site. It has 155,000. belts and regular mant. has been done to it before i got her.
The best thing is about this Honda it only costed me $700.00 no ****
thanks

Re: What fits?? y7 to y8 head

the d16y7 in stock form is a bit of a glorified lawnmower and bolt ons are not really going to increase hp any signifigant amount but they will add to fuel economy and throttle response. I have virtually the same car as you and I have the following;
Full msd ignition system
aem cai with k&N filter
dc sports 4-2-1 header
apexi catback
the car is responsive but its not like I gained any signifigant hp. Maybe 10 if lucky from all of that. The y8 head will give you more hp but its all top end not low end. So do not expect to see much of it in dd unless you go over 6000 prms. The y8 intake mani will not net you any gains so do not bother with it. Check this link out for info on the y8 head swap; http://www.jdmuniverse.com/forums/ho...-write-up.html Some very useful info for you. Keep in mind that the head swap will net you somwhere around 135 hp because of the increased compression, the problem with the swap is that the bottom end does not handle the increased compression well. So I would recommend building the bottom end up. Now here is where things can get interesting and there is good news here, bisimoto makes some great cams for the y7 head that can get you the same hp as a si for cheap without having to swap computers or anything like that. If you want to go to the limit with the cams (bisimoto stage 3) you will need a stand alone fuel management unit to get the fuel curves right for that cam. A lot of ppl will build up a y7 for a turbo setup but if you want to go there then I would look at cost vs hp as there are lots of honda engine swaps that will net you the same hp as a turbo setup on a d series engine and be much more reliable.
