Rep Power: 0 Can someone help D16y7 engine swap out
My son has a 2000 civic dx. Can someone tell me if the d16y7, (that is in his car), can be replaced with a JDM D15B? Or is he going to have to modify something? We've already bought the engine and are having problems with the rear main seal housing not bolting onto the new motor. The guy we bought it from assured us it would all line up right. But its not. I've tried contacting him but no luck. I've spent hours reading forums, watching videos and I'm getting no where. I'm at my witts end. I hope someone out here can help me and I'm not out the money for the motor.. Thank you for your time...

iirc, he'll be modifying lots of things. changing wiring, replacing the computer, etc.. which will very likely lead to creating hard to diagnose/fix problems along the way, and usually these cars end up getting parked or sold after a year because they won't pass emissions.
if you're asking for him, that is not very encouraging. personally i think just getting the right engine will save you a 1-6 month headache, and is something to seriously consider
why would you try to swap the housing around the rear main seal? an engine swap is the whole engine, no? if it were me: resell the d15b, get the right engine. let the boy walk for a while and don't make it your headache... IMO
