Suspension help: coil overs or lowering springs?

I'm looking into getting lowering springs for my civic because I know they're less expensive than coil overs. But I also know that I'll need to replace other parts of my suspension (which is completely stock) if I go with lowering springs. So I suppose my question is what will I have to replace? And would I be spending the same amount of money on lowering springs+ other parts as I would if I were to just get coil overs? I'm not trying to "slam" my car, I'm simply trying to lower it enough to obtain better handling. I'm way new to this, so any advice would be helpful.

struts/shocks - stock might not live long afterwards if not dead already.

then maintenance
suspension parts inspection now for broken bushings. if found, replace

swaybar endlinks and some cases top mounts start creaking after install
etc, etc.
again, they are maintenance, but seem to be exarcebated after a lowering

Re: Suspension help: coil overs or lowering springs?

I plan to lower my car about 1.5 inches but no more than 2. should i get a complete coilover set or would i be able to pull that off with just some new springs. my main concern is that i end up blowing out my shocks. I am very new to this, this is my first car (also my first post on this forum) and i know very little about this topic, so any advice or suggestions will really help me out. thanks a lot !!

springs will do fine for that low, any lower than I would suggest at least short shocks.

Coilovers. Because chances are you'll want to go lower later on.
