not too hard if you're good with electrical, you just want to make sure you're cutting the right wires and making good connections, either butt connectors or soldering, no twist and tape.
also make sure the module is somewhere it wont get wet
you have a 2000 so you dont have to worry about a bypass module, the basic kit will work fine
check kijiji/craiglist there's usually kits listed that are brand new in the box for cheap.
