most car have a two wire clutch switch, for hondas, i believe its nornally open. what i mean about normally open is when the pedal being depress, the two wire make a complete circuit. there are other types that are complicated, like some older model nissans.

use a relay to complete circuit in fashion:
85- (-) input when rmeote start
86-12volt fused constant
30-clutch wire
87-the other clutch wire

-if the clutch is a positive then use that postive wire, dont use another 12volt like the 86. for some car it does matter, believe me!!!
-vice versa for neg clutch switch, hondas should be neg clutch switch.

I have one in my car. They make remote starters specifically for manual trans (DEI doesnt make them tho). Its not dangerous or hard if you use the correct unit because it wont remote start if its in gear.

The unit works like this. When you get to where your going put your ebrake on and car in neutral and before you turn your car off you hit the start button on your transmitter. The unit will take over and when you take your key out the car stays running. Get out close the door and it shuts the car off. You obviously cant get out of your car and it be running with your car in gear.

I've had mine in my car for 3 years now and my previous car 4 years so. Its not a big deal if you get the proper unit and install it properly. If you can install a starter on an automatic then its cake. Its only 3 more wires - door pin, e-brake, and clutch.

Is there a name and brand for this remote start you have in your car that works this way. Also a location to buy this unit?

Kloverz has a little shameless behaviour in the past

These are one of the best units that i've worked with. They are normally a little more expensive but the 2 way unit outperforms anything i've seen on the market with range. We've tested it at 1/2 mile range and can still operate every fucntion on the vehicle. Plus it works on the manual transmission like I described before.

i have 1 and its about the same difficulty as hooking 1 up to a auto. although it is illegal without a "stick safe" autostart. all u have to do to bypass the clutch is jumper the top plug on the clutch (2 wire plug). i use it all the time bbut its cold here 1/2 the year. and it also makes a great turbo warmer and turbo timer, cuz u can set the run time.the only 1 i cant think of thats "stick safe" is a model of clifford but i forget which 1, the site will tell u.

I worked at a shop in SC for awhile and all the guys there had remote start on their cars, all 5-speeds. One guy came up with a fail-safe to make sure the car wouldnt start if it wasnt in neutral. Basically it involves putting two sensors on the shifter. They should be lined up while its in neutral so if its in anything but neutral will stop the alarm from trying to start the car. Its a little tricky and im not sure what he used but he got the sensors at radio shack and im pretty sure they were magnetic or something. I hope this can help you guys out a little but im sorry because thats all the info I have, I didnt work there very long.

thats exactly what I did. I wanted to build my own remote start adon unit, because I didnt like any of the features of current ones on the market. I also didnt want to have to do the silly push-a-button thing every time i got out of my car if i wanted to use the remote start later. as if I know when I am gonna use it!

can you imagine?
"hey check this out"
*gets in car*
*starts car*
*gets out of car*
*sets alarm*
"here goes!"
*pushes button on remote*
*car starts*

kinda lame, right? thats assuming you dont ALWAYS push the button to set the remote start, just a waste of time!

So I went out to radio shack and bought a magnetic sensor. they cost less then $5. then I placedd the magnet on the stick of my shifter, and used squwers to hold up the sensor itself.

the switch is wired inline with the initiation of the remote start, and the clutch is also one wire bypassed. I used a relay to bypass it rather than permanently bypassing it because I still want the clutch to prevent the car form starting when Im not remote starting it.

if hte car is in gear, the signal never tells the car to start. It only physically hysically works when the car is in out of gear!

difficult to see, and messy as heck, but it works well. the switch is the white thing.

I sugest using glue other than basic hot glue, mine is now reinforced with the black hot glue, much more reliable
