Bad Connection? Unknown issues
Bad Connection? Unknown issues
Okay, so
The other night I went to go start my car ( 96 Honda Civic HB d16y7)
I turned the key, all normal electric do dads came on. Dash, stereo etc
However, when I went to pop in the clutch to start a loud click happened and the car went dead. Popped the hood to check out the fuse box, everything looked chill. Slammed the hood walked away to to talk to my buddy and then the cars tail lights and everything on the inside came on...
Tried to Jump it today and no power came from the jump.
Ideas? Bad Connection? Bad Battery Terminals?
Get a multi meter?
whaddayah guys think

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

A voltmeter (or a test light) would be the first tool I use to help locate the problem (if I can't find it with my eyes and hands).
Re: Bad Connection? Unknown issues
Sounds alot like the issue I had with my '96 DX. Cause ended up being the Positive Terminal had a loose bad connection that would come loose. All the electrics would come on, but when I turned the key to crank, pop, dead.
I ended up removing the Positive terminal and wires to the fuse box, cleaning and stripping some fresh wire and reconnecting everything. Going on 3 months without a single problem since the repair.
Easiest way to tell is replicate the pop&dead problem, then jump from the positive terminal to the wire to the fuse box, multi-meter works for this. Electrics come on when you poke the wires, terminal is the problem.
Start with the easy dumb fix first. Save the "I should have checked that, I know better" moment later (experience). I tore the whole dash apart poking and proding around and it was a stupid connection problem.
