Need a more comfortable seat

I just bought a 98 civic lx a few days ago to drive back n forth to work, I love the car it gets great gas mileage and does exactly what I need it to do all except for this horribly uncomfortable seat. Even in short drives I have back pain from the "Wing" on the right side of the seat, I'm tall 6'2" and have to reach down somewhat to shift gears and that creates a problem. Has anyone ever shaved these wings off the seat somewhat to make them more comfortable? I really don't want to spend the money on a different seat if I can help it.

Re: Need a more comfortable seat

My recommendation is to go to a junkyard and find a comfortable seat to put in its place. Make sure you find something that will match the mounting brackets/bolt pattern. May cost you a little, but not as much as a brand new seat. You could also look at Acuras from the same year/group.

The tools you need for the job is minimal and just takes a bit of grunt work.

Best of luck finding a solution.

Re: Need a more comfortable seat

Get Del Sol seats and change the bracket mounts on them to fit your civic, most comfortable seats I've ever sat in, and I'm 6'1-6'2ish myself.
