98 civic speedometer going crazy!!!

ok my ek coupe speedomter started to go crazy a couple of days ago. it stops working then goes like if im going 130 mph and up and down alot... is it a ground or something else

Is the CEL on?
Is a P0500 code in it?
Does the PCM datalist display the correct road speed (VSS)?


Most just need a speedometer.
A few tests would confirm or deny that.

Mine had same problem. I was thinking either sped sensor or speedometer. If you have cruise control and it still holds speed it is not speed sensor. I ended up with a used cluster, and it fixed the problem.
