high output alternator
i have a 1998 honda civic its a Japanese model and i have a 1000 watt amp and speker set up in my trunk my alternators starting to go and im looking for a high output alternator any suggestions on how big of an alternator i should get and pricing? any help would be apreciated and i might in the future upgrade to a 2500watt system
Re: high output alternator
Proper wiring is key for any high power system, for 2400 watts peak use a min of 4 gauge wire for it. When you run the wires through the firewall make sure they are through a grommet to prevent damage and fused at the battery. Also upgrade the engine and battery grounds and charge wire from the alternator to the battery to all 4 gauge wire.
Re: high output alternator
In a previous car that I onwed I got the alternator rebuilt for high output. Basically I think they recoil the inside or something like that. Anyways, most places that fix alternators will do it. Plus its alot cheaper than just getting a new alternator. Plus you said yours is going? What is going exactly? like I have had the regulator burn out due to too much stress from external power consumption. Started to cook my battery, was running like 18 Volts on that **** LOL
