help me with my window... 98 EX
So I've searched the internet and can't find anyone with this specific problem, although I'm sure its not too uncommon. I am just a real amateur with electrical right now, but i'm trying to learn.
Heres the deal, my 98 EX driver side window is malfunctioning. It would go up and down fine, but sometimes it wouldn't work and I would have to hit the armrest on the door (sometimes several times and HARD) for it to start working. But then it would roll up and down fine, a little slow but it worked. Then one day last week it stopped all together. I took the door panel off and it looks like its on the track, and I cleaned the connectors on the switch too, but still wont move. Its only the driver side, the passenger works great.
I feel like if it was the motor, hitting it wouldn't make it work all those times. SO I'm lost.

If you press the button, and you hear no sound, and you gotta smack it around....it's prolly dead
Or, if you have a 12v wire, and a ground wire that reaches to your door panel, you can try to test it

looks like it is getting power but doesnt work. I guess it is the motor. SO next question is, since it it stuck in the up position, do I have to take the whole regulator out or can I just swap out the motor only??
Re: help me with my window... 98 EX
This is for the 2 door, if yours is 4 door you can get to it thru the link. #4: http://www.bkhondaparts.com/billkay/...itch=&hidIrno=
Or find one salvage for as low as $35 here: http://www.car-part.com/
Probably have to take the whole regulator out the access the motor. Which means you need to carefully take out the glass first. Should be able to access the glass bolts when it is up.

not sure how honda sells it. on my bmw 330i, the motor is one part and the mechanical track, cables and pulleys are separate.
Re: help me with my window... 98 EX
so turned out there was a wire loose in the actual harness, hence the hitting method being effective. so now it always has power goes down fine enough but the window stops about half way up when going up, and i have to help it up with my hands. so I'm guessing if I replace the regulator and motor it should fix that right?
Re: help me with my window... 98 EX
ok so apparently if you buy just the motor, the holes dont match up. Long story short, I got a motor/ regulator combo, switched it out, lubed the tracks and everything is working like new now. Thanks everyone.
