need some assistance with amp and sub
Re: need some assistance with amp and sub
To explain it simply, the impedence rating (ohms) is important when matching the woofer to an amp because as the speaker impedance falls, the amplifier must deliver more and more output current. At some point, the amplifier cannot produce sufficient current to drive the speaker and the quality of the audio output will degrade. This brings increased distortion, which can damage the speakers, current starvation, and poor amplifier response. An amplifier can drive a speaker with a much higher impedance than it is rated for, but should not be used to drive one with a lower impedance.
