2000 civic DX standard 5 speed
Was returning home from trip 6 hours away and the parking light began to flicker I pump the brakes and it would go off then come back on alittle later it did this for a while then the light just stayed on. Upon reaching our destination the brakes seem to stop working completely.
Was not able to start troubleshooting tonight but what should I be looking for first?
Thx in advance.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

When you arrived at your destination and discovered the brakes had quit working---Was there a horrid smell from the brakes overheating? Smoke? Abnormal heat radiating from the wheels?

Check brake fluid level in the reservoir. (Empty or nearly empty?)
See if there is a freshly wet area under the car near the drivers rear wheel....
I might guess one of the steel brake lines has rusted through near that wheel. (That seems to be the first one to rot through in my area of the rust belt anyway..)

Yes I mean the red brake light that comes on when parking brake is applied.
Yes when I mash to the floor.
Don't see the puddle pump brakes does not work.
Brake reservoir I'll check

Re: No Brakes?
Probably out of brake fluid.
If it's empty, refill with brake fluid (DOT 3) then pump pedal several times, look for the leak again everywhere under the car.
