1997 Honda Civic Hatchback (EK) BIG brake kit for 17's (205/40R17)
So I've been doing allot of research on big brake kits, but since a popular civic setup are 15's I've been finding allot of brake kits for 15's. The problem is I have 17's and I'm need some help trying to find a brake kit I can fit on a 17's. I am slowly prepping it for track & street purposes. I know that there are the mini Cooper disk conversions, and the Acura control arm conversions. I'm just not sure which one to upgrade to that will allow me to get the most braking power on my front brakes. I do eventually want to upgrade the rear as well also, but that will be another time. Definitely will be going from drums to disk on the rear. I do also eventually want a Spoon disc brakes all around, so for that I'm not sure if it will be Acura control arms either. If anyone out there knows the knowledge for this let me know! I'll post my current wheel setup. 205/40/R17 car is currently stock suspension, but when I do rebuild the entire suspension I will either go for bags or spoon suspension parts. 205/40/R17

If prepping for track then I’d go down to a 15” wheel to save weight. The car is not heavy and doesn’t need super big brakes. Upgraded pads and rotors will probably do you good.

Hmm alrighty. In the future I will probably downsize, but to save a little money for now I'll keep it 17's. I do like the look of the wheels though, since I think this particular rim is discontinued?? Gives it kind of early 2000's vibe 😆

UPDATE: 23 JAN 2024
UPDATE: So I've lowered the civic about 3-4 inches with the 17s on. Not gonna lie for me it looks SOOO much better now. I think I have to be one of the only people in the world with this type of setup. The alignment specs are -3.5 camber all around for the fitment. However I will have to fix the fitment since I do want to track the car… not sure how it'll run on track with -3.5 camber all around LOL. Running on Maxspeedingrods adjustable Coilovers. Running at full stiffness, but I'll have to change the spring rate to the max stiffness to prevent further bouncing & rubbing of the front wheels when I make hard turns at 45mph… Setup does really good in the canyons though. I would love to hear feedback. Lots more planned for this little beast. Hoping to have it full ready in August to head to Willowspring. The front fenders will definitely need to be rolled due to rubbing. Front splash guards also need to be removed. The front mudflaps also run against the floor, so to prevent damage to OEM ones just buy some cheap ones from eBay or Amazon to replace them.

If you want to see better pics I have a bunch on my Instagram @rjaybruhh. Lowered about 4 inches from stock Tire specs: 205 / 45 / R17 Alignment: -3.5 camber (When doing alignment on my civic I found that the camber naturally dropped to -3.5 which happened to be the exact amount of camber I need to fit for stock. No spacers or anything. Front fenders will need to be rolled & under fender covers will need to be removed. Also front mud flaps will rub, but I found out they are very flexible. To prevent damage to OEM mud flaps you can buy some cheap ones off Amazon or eBay .
ALSO had to remove the resonator since it kept scraping up at down driveways.

I’d definitely drop down to 15’s or 16’s. Those look huge. It’ll greatly help with your ride quality as well, but I mostly blame that on the brand you chose.

hi there...what is the width on ur wheels 17x? and whats the offset? im trying to go 17x7.5 offset 40 or 17x7 offset 45 which ever offset work w/o no rub on my ek too but couldn't find result. How bad is the rub when u turn left or right at the right light?
