New to the scene

I'm looking into getting a 99 civic hatch that is all stock. I don't want to rebuild the whole engine but do want to replace the main parts with better ones. Which parts would be the best to replace first?

Everyone here (well, ALMOST everyone) starts with what's referred to as an i/h/e upgrade. Start with a new intake. The exhaust manifold and exhaust system itself are generally next. There are some posts around here of some good results with upgrading to a stage 1 camshaft as well... it's supposed to be hands-down the best way to get more out of your engine without going turbo.

Aha I think I figured that out. Out of no where the addiction just hit me. I just want to do research before I begin
