Help engine bogging

I just recently bought a 2000 ek civic coupe it is a 5 speed, yes it’s a hoopty, has CEL on and at first when i tap the gas to get her moving it is fine and very responsive.. it shifts hard but goes through all gears like it should+ reverse. Anyways the car is very peppy when you tap the gas, but when you push farther down on the pedal it seems to bog out, and accelerates very slow.. what could be the reason and how can i fix it??? i’m New THANKS

Engine bog or bad tranny??

Ran the codes, Came up P0500, Vehicle speed sensor malfunction.. explains why the speedo doesn’t work. Easy fix?

Re: Help engine bogging

Pull genuine (oem) from junkyard. Bring current one with you to match up. Transmission dependent and will need to match up the gear teeth direction. Don't buy aftermarket...they blow.

The issue could be something else besides the sensor but it's a cheap place to start $10-$15 at junkyard. Or, just pocket change (uh, keep in your pocket and oops! I forgot to pay for this...wink wink..lol).

Re: Help engine bogging

the sensor teeth themselves were all good but there was a lot of corrosion on the top of the sensor and inside of the connector:/ should i get new sensor and connecter? or can the corrosion be cleaned(it’s literally covered in blue gunk)

sensor and connecter?
Yea get it all. Splice good connector to harness and the splices had better be absolutely waterproof when you are done.
