Burning Oil

Hey guys. So I just picked up my first civic a couple weeks ago for $300. Motor ran great but trans case was cracked to all hell due to the previous owner straddling an elevated manhole and it caught the trans. So I picked up a trans for $100 and a stage 3 XTD clutch for 50 bucks. Been driving the car to work and back for the last week but its burning oil pretty bad. Can't tell if I continuously move but once I stop at a red light or anything like that for more than a minute or so when I hit the throttle all the oil smoke comes out from under the hood and from the exhaust. Now I would normally just assume it was something like rings if it was just coming from the exhaust but its kind of throwing me off how its coming from under the hood. It really seems like its coming from the back of the motor too, not out the front where the exhaust bolts up. Anyone have any pointers or any ideas on what to check? I'm going to keep driving it regardless but if I can get it to where I don't have to throw a quart of oil in it every three or four days. Thanks in advance, y'all!

Re: Burning Oil

Welcome to the forum...!

WOW ..a quart every 3 - 4 days is way too much Oil to be using (replace the PCV Valve and see if it makes any difference)
other than that You need an engine.

Yeah I've basically assumed I'm going to need a new motor which isn't too big a deal since I can find D16Y7s for like 300 bucks but I'll definitely check the PCV. Not sure why I didn't think about that before. Thanks though man! If and when I do go in to replace the motor I'll probably just find myself a good D16Y8 cuz VTEC lol.
