Mechanical Problems/Vehicle Issues and Fix-it ForumIf you've got a problem you just can't figure out, a noise you can't diagnose, or a Check Engine Light that won't go away, ask about it here!
So i have a 1999 honda civic hatchback dx thats just been siting in my back yard for years and i want to restore it completely. however I've noticed it has mold on the doors and all over the place. I'm mostly concerned about the mold being inside the AC vents, so i was wondering if anyone has a solution to this problem? like maybe a mold bomb? would that even be safe? idk, any ideas? thanks!

50% methanol (from auto parts store) and 50% white vinigure on everything moldy, make sure you have all windows open and that there is absolutely no ignition sources around the car. With every thing open (doors, sunroof, trunk with divider down) wait until it is fully dry.
Untill then clean the things that you can carry inside to dry, floor mats and what not, then go to a parts sore and ask for "Dry-z-air." Get 6 packs. Four for the cab (two in each door panel up front), two in the trunk.
I just got the bags and pocket holes in them, and set them in the door pockets. Make sure to shack the bags every now and then to mix the grounds around.
