No Crank No Start
No Crank No Start
I have a 96 DX with the D16Y7 with 268xxx miles. I have seen similar posts, but my issue seems different. I drove it just fine about 3 miles, and parked. Came out to leave and nothing. I have all accessory power and battery is good. Have checked all connections at battery and are good. My dash lights do not dim out. Parts I have replaced trying to figure this out: Main relay, Distributor, Starter, and Clutch switch. I am out of ideas. not sure where to go now
Re: No Crank No Start
I might also add, that before it did this the CEL would come on intermittently for the Catalytic converter. I've heard that a clogged Cat can cause issues starting. Not sure if this is true or not. Have never had issues with that, so that's where I'm at with it

Got a video of "nothing"? LOL
Have you tested to see if power reaches BOTH wires on the starter solenoid during cranking?
and Clutch switch.
Re: No Crank No Start
By "nothing" , I mean it does not make a single sound. I replaced the clutch switch at the top of the pedal assy. I did not even think about the pad that the plunger sits on, I will check that out. Thank you

Re: No Crank No Start
You might fabricate with anything handy (nut and bolt, pushpin, penny and epoxy LOL) to fill the hole so the tab can push the switch plunger.. .
Might have to readjust the switch if you do something like that.

I picked one up from O'reilly's. They actually have them in stock now. It is actually trying to crank. Put a trickle charger on it, and will try it again in the morning. Thank you again

Re: No Crank No Start
Revisit everything you touched up to this point:
Reinstall all of the good original parts that didn't need replaced LOL
You may have done something wrong while replacing parts, you may have knocked something loose or apart during your work, not plugged something in all the way, wrong firing order, etc.....
or if you didn't make any other mistakes, you may have installed a junk reman distributor. Aftermarket remans are crap.
Compression. Spark. Fuel.
Correct amounts at the correct times.
Which one is wrong?
