overheating 97 civic
My civic temperature gauge needle goes up(overheating) to but after a couple seconds goes down to normal. I've read that there's might be air on the cooling system. I tried to bleed my cooling system by putting the front of my car on ramp, took out all the water from my brand new radiator, I even drill 2 small hole on my thermostat. The put anti freeze on the radiator, start the engine with a full heater fan on, didn't solve the problem. I did the block tester, it went negative for leak. I suspect that maybe the fan is turning on alright away when it starts to get hot, so the needle goes all the way up, then the fan goes on that why the needle goes back to normal again. So I check the fuses, relay everything is good. I put a jumper wire on the connector to the radiator fan switch, the fan whet on, will it be the radiator switch fan that I need to replace? Any help will be highly appreciated. thanks

Could be your gauge on the dash is lying to you.
Use a scanner to read what the PCM is seeing.
What does it say the coolant temp is---while the gauge is reading too high?
You suspect?
Open the hood and see what's going on when the gauge goes up.
