Water pump & alternator bracket

Hi guys

It's me again. I have a short question. Do I need to remove the alternator bracket in order to replace the water pump?

Yes, and your new pump should have a great big hole where that bolt passes through.

Wow thnx again for your help. I'm preparing a plan for this job and try to not unbolt unnecessary things as much as possible.

and try to not unbolt unnecessary things as much as possible.
You have to go after it the same as doing a timing belt job, there's no shortcut there. You may leave the alternator standing in place but you have to pull the bolts and the upper adjustment bracket out of the way. You'll have to loosen the bottom alternator bolt to adjust its belt too.

Mechanics rule: Sometimes it can be much faster to just get something out of the way than to try to fight working around it, regardless of how many bolts hold it on.

Re: Water pump & alternator bracket

Yeah I know. The thing is I don't have a garage and this is the only car I have. These is the reasons why I try to plan everything that I can replace the timing belt and the water pump within five hours. I'm not an **** dude but for the timing belt and the water pump replacement, I want to be sure that the job will be well done.
