block compadability

I have found that my rings are shot or some other problem in the bottom end of my d16y5. If i decide to just buy something i know runs what blocks will work with a y5 head? this is a commuter car so i dont need more power i just need something to run and drive. would it be more beneficial to rebuild the bottom end such as pistons rings and bearings or swap in a new block?

How much value is you car worth with a good running engine it? If it's not worth more than $1500 than you may want to consider another used car in that price range rather than the hassle of swapping out engines. You might be in for more than you bargained for with a used block or rebuilding one.
