2000 civic ex turns off when I clear a code

Here's the issue I'm having with my civic, it's throwing a p1381 code, I replaced the whole distributer, and the cylinder position sensor. After that it was still throwing the same code, after I cleared the code, the car shuts off every time. I turn it back on and it throws the code again, I clear it, and it shuts off, and over and over again. Idk what's wrong. And in addition to that, the car idles really low on the verge of stalling. At low rpm the car jerks. Any info would be appreciated

Read and try this:
CLICKY PDF LINK: http://tegger.com/hondafaq/p0420/A050900.pdf

Also note, reman distributors are JUNK. You might need to try several before you get a good one.

Re: 2000 civic ex turns off when I clear a code

so i read and followed the instructions for the p1381 troubleshooting thing that you linked and everything checked out, still had same problem, since then iv replaced the whole distributor along with new sparks and coils, still have the problem. if i clear the code the car will instantly die. additional info, car will never start on the first crank, idles super super low with occasional misfire, and jerks super hard when in low rpm. someone told me it could just be a bad ecu but i dont wanna replace it and find it wasnt the issue.

and everything checked out,
Unplug the 4 wire connector off of the alternator and see?

Do any of the reman distributors have the metal shield on the side of the ignition coil? Maybe a rebuilder is leaving them out because they have no idea what it is for.

Locate an identical car (one with no problems) you can swap with as a test.
Walmart parking lot? LOL

if i clear the code the car will instantly die.
My Honda scanner won't let me clear a fault code with the engine running.
