Driving with no hood

Waddup guys. the subject is the question. Is it bad for your car? Yes you get a lot of air to cool it down, and also make your car faster, but how to do the belts handle it, and other components.

Thanks

Re: Driving with no hood

It creates more drag though... It's probably not bad for your car per se, as long as you are aware that the hood acts as a protective cover.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: Driving with no hood

it would not be advisable,

any (even very slight) modification you make to the body will SEVERELY affect the aerodynamics of the vehicle, which will affect handling and drag,

it boggles my mind to even think about why somebody would even contemplate doing this

Re: Driving with no hood

I think the only time this is acceptable is if you were putting in a J or something else too big for the hood.

Re: Driving with no hood

I think you'd have to take the doors off to make it look right.

Seriously though hot rodders do it all the time to keep their cars from overheating in hot weather and low speeds but a) they have a reason and b) they put them back on when they can.

Come on Jeff Lutz can put a V8 w/twin turbos in a '89 Civic and keep the hood on
