1999 Civic automatic-difficulty shifting

1999 Civic automatic-difficulty shifting
I can shift into park, but to get key out of the ignition I had to loosen the gear shift **** and allow the mechanism to travel a little higher. Is this an issue with the **** or something more involved?

Sounds like you need more investigation into the shifter area to see WHY you had to do that....
Something bent? Someone yanked too hard on the shifter? IDK.
